Stonewall Uprising

When homosexual acts were illegal throughout America, gays found refuge at the Stonewall Inn in New York. When police raided Stonewall in 1969, gay men and women did something they had not done before: they fought back. This documentary from PBS’ American Experience remembers those courageous young men and women who stood up to an abusive society that told them that everything that they were doing was wrong. (Prod. Kate Davis & David Heilbroner)
