Written in collaboration with Clay McLeod Chapman Our short film—Henley—had been back-burning in our brains for over five years. Clay had published a novel back in 2003 called Miss Corpus. Craig, it turns out, was the only person who read it. There’s a chapter in the book, The Henley Road Motel, which is all about a boy growing up in a family-run roach motel. Think lil’ Normie Bates before donning mom’s summer dress. Robot and Frank (director, Jake Schreier) I got into film because I was spectacularly mediocre at everything else. I loved art and performance, but wasn’t much of an actor, was a pretty bad keyboard player and couldn’t draw at all. SUNDANCE TRAILER WATCH: “KEEP THE LIGHTS ON”
One of the films I’m most anticipating at Sundance 2012 is Keep the Lights On from writer/director Ira Sachs (The Delta, 40 Shades of Blue). The film essays art, autobiography, and New York gay culture in the 1980s, ’90s and early aughts, and even before its arrival it has spawned a rich website that riffs on all of those themes. Four titles have been added to the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Listed below, these films join latecomers in recent years like Miranda July‘s The Future and Lisa Cholodenko‘s The Kids Are All Right. TITLES FOR 2012 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL USA ANNOUNCED
Below are the titles that will be screening as part of the Sundance Institute’s Sundance Film Festival USA screening series. Designed in 2010 to bring the festival experience to movie-goers nationwide, nine films and their filmmakers will travel from Utah to one of the following cities: Ann Arbor, MI; Boston, MA; Brooklyn, NY; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; Nashville, TN; Orlando, FL; San Francisco, CA; and Tucson, AZ. during the Sundance Film Festival.
