Dogtooth
Greek filmmaker Giorgios Lanthimos’ Oscar-nominated drama is a chilling and often hilarious look inside the life of three siblings who’ve grow up cut off from civilization due to their parents’ distain for the world that’s beyond their fences. Home schooling includes teaching the kids different meanings for everyday words and for entertainment they listen to Sinatra, but are told the man singing is their grandfather. This alternate universe is shattered though when the father lets in an outsider to help satisfy his son’s growing fascination with females. With amazing performances and beautiful photography, Dogtooth is a film that will stay with you long after viewing. The film was the winner of the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes in 2009.
