Based on British author Robert Macfarlane’s non-fiction book of the same name, Underland, the feature debut from Rob Petit, investigates the world hidden beneath our feet. In particular, the film ventures into the depths of a cave system in Mexico once used for ancient Mayan rites; a Canadian dark matter research facility located two kilometers beneath the surface; the exhilarating, if treacherous, storm drain system beneath Las Vegas; and a haphazardly abandoned uranium mine in the American Southwest. Trailer Watch: Ian Cheney’s The Arc of Oblivion
Ahead of its world premiere at SXSW, a trailer has been released for documentarian Ian Cheney‘s latest film The Arc of Oblivion. Executive produced by Werner Herzog and Sandbox Films (which was recently nominated for an Academy Award for Sara Dosa’s Fire of Love), the film will have its inaugural screening at the festival on March 10. Sundance Institute | Sandbox Fund Announce Latest Cohort of Grantees
Today, the Sundance Institute and Sandbox Films announced the 10 projects selected as this year’s cohort for the Sundance Institute | Sandbox Fund. Geared toward supporting nonfiction films that explore the link between science and culture, the fund offers grants from development through post-production and engagement events.
