What happens when 50 documentary filmmakers converge in the woods of Oregon for a long weekend? It sounds like the premise of an episode of Portlandia or a new reality TV show. But Oregon Doc Camp, featuring four days of film talks, screenings, workshops, and campfires at a Silver Fall State Park in Oregon, is something entirely different. Oregon Doc Camp Now Accepting Applications
Now in its fourth year, Oregon Doc Camp invites experienced documentary filmmakers to a four-day documentary retreat May 18-21, 2017 at Silver Falls State Park in central Oregon. Developed by Women in Film Portland, Oregon Doc Camp gives working documentary filmmakers an opportunity to gather in an informal setting, learn from each other and build community in an ever-changing industry. How to Build Your Documentary’s Distribution Strategy
Gone are the days when if you were lucky enough to sell your documentary to a single distributor, they would take care of the rest. Though a select group of established documentary filmmakers still operate along those traditional lines, the majority of independent filmmakers working in documentaries today rely on a hybrid distribution plan in which theatrical, festivals, broadcast, educational, non-theatrical, and VOD rights are split. Nonfiction Filmmakers Invited to Oregon Doc Camp
Now in its third year, Oregon Doc Camp, presented by Women in Film Portland, invites experienced documentary filmmakers to gather in an intimate, informal setting and work on career development. The event will run from May 12-15, 2016 at Silver Falls Lodge and Conference center in Sublimity, Oregon. This year’s programming will be centered around the themes of narrative storytelling and independent distribution, with a three-day program consisting of workshops, lectures, case studies, screenings and a master class, as well as the opportunity to screen works-in-progress.
