Genesis House, the Meatpacking District flagship for Korean luxury vehicles and fine dining, and The Gotham Film & Media Institute, Filmmaker’s publisher, announce today the launch of their joint fellowship. This new initiative will support three New York City–based narrative short filmmakers during their films’ final stages of production and/or distribution.

The Genesis House x The Gotham Shorts Fellowship will provide a sizable $10,000 grant alongside mentorship sessions, access to exclusive Genesis House programming, and the opportunity to screen for industry professionals during Gotham Week’s 2026 edition.

“This fellowship brings together Genesis House’s position as a cultural hub for creative collaboration with The Gotham’s longstanding support of independent voices,” said Tedros Mengiste, Chief Operating Officer of Genesis Motor North America, in a press release.

Other benefits include the ability to participate in a Gotham Week panel, two in-person dinners with select industry leaders at Genesis House’s restaurant, promotional efforts during Gotham Week, and acknowledgement during Gotham Week Honors. Further activations will take place at the 2026 Gotham Film Awards and the Filmmaker Magazine Celebration, which had its inaugural edition at Genesis House this past December.

“We’re excited to see our partnership with Genesis House continue to evolve, opening up meaningful new opportunities for our community of filmmakers to develop their work and advance their careers,” Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, stated via press release.

Eligibility requirements for the fellowship are as follows: The shorts must have been filmed in New York City; principal photography must have been completed between April 1, 2025, and April 1, 2026; the projects must be scripted; applicants must be based in the U.S. and authorized to work in the country; and the films cannot premiere before Gotham Week, which will run  September 27-October 23, 2026.

Applications open today, April 16, and close on Thursday, May 14 at 11:59 p.m. A virtual interest session will be held on Tuesday, April 21, at 5 p.m. ET.
