Submissions Open for IFP Independent Filmmaker Labs
Debut directors with either documentary or narrative features in post-production should highly consider submitting to the IFP Independent Filmmaker Labs. Their track record — An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, Blue Caprice, Concussion, Our Nixon, Pariah, to name a few — speaks for itself. A year-long mentorship program, the Labs are designed to support filmmakers through the lengthly process of completing, marketing and distributing their first films. IFP & Vimeo Celebrate Filmmakers and Storytellers at 2014 Sundance Film Festival
On Sunday night, IFP and Vimeo held a party to celebrate the thirteen films screening at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival that had first been developed at the IFP Labs, Project Forum or other IFP programs. IFP supported films included Appropriate Behavior, CAPTIVATED: The Trials of Pamela Smart, Cesar’s Last Fast, Dinosaur 13, Hellion, Little Accidents, Marmato, Memphis, Obvious Child, The Overnighters, Ping Pong Summer, Rich Hill and The Skeleton Twins. Leah Meyerhoff Receives IFP Labs Director’s Grant
IFP and the Adrienne Shelly Foundation announced yesterday that its 7th Annual IFP Labs Director’s Grant was awarded to Leah Meyerhoff and her film I Believe In Unicorns. The grant is open to female directors who are either alumni or current participants of the IFP Narrative Independent Filmmaker Lab. I Believe in Unicorns was a member of the 2012 edition, a recent finalist for the Gotham Awards Live the Dream Grant, as well as a selection in Tribeca’s All Access and the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Emerging Visions programs. IFP Guest Curates “One Million Square Feet of Culture” in Miami
Alongside Miami’s Art Basel — the international art show that runs through Saturday — IFP has teamed with One Million Square Feet of Culture to guest curate a series of technology-centric events. Installed at the Wynwood Cigar Factory across (more precisely) 3,045 square feet are three programs: Emotional Arcade, The 78 Project, and BlabDroids. Designed by Brent Hoff and Alex Reben, modified EEG headsets are the tricks of the trade in the Emotional Arcade, where unchecked emotions are a game-winning currency. Gotham Awards’ Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Screening Series
In the lead-up to the Gotham Independent Film Awards on December 2nd, IFP announced it will hold a screening series to highlight the nominees of the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award. From Thursday, November 21 through Saturday, November 23, the category’s five directorial debuts will screen at the new Made in NY Media Center by IFP in Dumbo. The films are Stacie Passon’s Concussion; Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station; Adam Leon’s Gimme The Loot; Alexandre Moors’ Blue Caprice; and Amy Seimetz’s Sun Don’t Shine.
