Nick Kroll to Host 2013 Gotham Independent Film Awards
Comedian and actor Nick Kroll was announced this afternoon as the host of the 2013 Gotham Independent Film Awards, which will take place at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan on December 2. Kroll is perhaps best known for playing Ruxin on the FX sitcom The League, and also stars in Kroll Show, which started airing on Comedy Central earlier this year. 12 Years a Slave Leads 2013 Gotham Award Nominations
IFP this morning announced the nominations for the 2013 edition of the Gotham Independent Film Awards, with Steve McQueen’s Oscar front-runner 12 Years a Slave leading the pack with nods in three categories, Best Feature, Best Actor and Breakthrough Actor. Receiving two nominations were Alexandre Moors’ Blue Caprice, Stacie Passon’s Concussion, Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis and Shane Carruth’s Upstream Color. Forest Whitaker to Receive Actor Tribute at 2013 Gotham Awards
IFP today announced that its third honoree at this year’s Gotham Independent Film Awards will be Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker. (The previously announced tributes were of Mayor’s Office Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver and writer/director Richard Linklater.) The tribute caps a highly successful year for Whitaker, who won great acclaim for his lead performance in Lee Daniels’ The Butler and produced Ryan Coogler’s Sundance-winning Fruitvale Station. Richard Linklater to Receive Tribute at Gotham Awards
IFP announced today that Richard Linklater will receive the Director’s Tribute at this year’s Gotham Independent Film Awards. The helmer of Before Midnight, one of the most respected, gifted and prolific figures within U.S. independent film over the past two decades, will be the recipient of this honor 21 years after making his breakthrough feature with Slacker. Gotham Awards to Honor Commisioner Katherine Oliver
IFP announced today that the Gotham Awards will honor this December the Commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Katherine Oliver. Every year, the Gothams honors four individuals who have made a considerable contribution, in one capacity or another, to the world of independent film; in 2012, the honorees were actors Matt Damon and Marion Cotillard, writer/director David O. Russell and Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll. 2013 Gotham Awards to Add Best Actor and Actress Categories
IFP, Filmmaker’s publisher, announced this morning details of this year’s edition of its annual awards show, the Gotham Awards. The 2013 event will take place at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on December 2, and will feature a number of changes. The most significant change is the addition of Best Actor and Actress categories, which are now in addition to awards for Breakthrough Actor and Best Ensemble.
