SXSW Teaser: Leah Meyerhoff’s I Believe in Unicorns

A film I’ve been looking forward to for some time is Leah Meyerhoff’s I Believe in Unicorns, which I saw in rough cut at the IFP Narrative Lab. I was tremendously impressed with what I saw then, particularly the emotional sensitivity of its direction and central performances. The film is now finished, and premiering at SXSW. And there’s a Kickstarter campaign. Check out the new teaser above, read information from the filmmakers about the film below, and consider donating:

I Believe in Unicorns is Leah Meyerhoff’s debut feature film which tells the story of a teenage girl who gets in over her head when she runs away from home with an older boy.

Davina is an imaginative and strong-willed teenage girl who often escapes into a beautifully twisted fantasy life. Having grown up quickly as the sole caretaker of her disabled mother, she looks for salvation in a new relationship with an older boy. She is soon swept into a whirlwind of romance and adventure, but the enchantment of her new relationship quickly fades when his volatile side begins to emerge. I Believe in Unicorns takes us on a road trip through the stunning and complex landscape of troubled young love.

I Believe in Unicorns is one of eight films premiering in narrative competition at the South By Southwest Film Festival and needs your help to put the finishing touches on the film in time for the world premiere.

Thank you for believing in Unicorns
