Affiliation bias aside, it’s a bit tricky to offer a succinct preview of IFP’s Filmmaker Conference during the upcoming Film Week, as all five days of programming are chock-full of essentials. Upcoming Deadlines for IFP’s Independent Film Week
IFP is nearing its annual deadline for applications to the Independent Film Week Project Forum, set to take place September 14-18 at Lincoln Center. This Friday, May 2, submissions close for RBC’s Emerging Storytellers — for writers at the script stage, and web series creators in development, production, and post-production looking to connect with producers, funders, agents, digital distributors, and streaming platforms — and the No Borders International Co-Production Market — for established narrative producers with partial financing in place looking to connect with financiers, distributors, sales agents and international partners. IFP Launches New Web Series Initiative
Yesterday IFP, Filmmaker‘s parent organization, announced that an annual lab for web series will be added to its existing programs for narrative and documentary films. The Web Storytellers Sidebar, part of IFP’s RBC Emerging Storytellers program, is designed to promote web series through an in-depth consultation during Independent Film Week in September, with additional logistical support extending beyond. Up to five series–in any stage of development, production, or post–will be selected to participate in the conference, which constitutes the largest meetings-based film forum in the United States. Future Forward – A Day for New Voices in Independent Film
Sunday’s schedule of events at the IFP’s Filmmaker Conference titled “Future Forward” really couldn’t have been more perfectly named. Though each panel could be seen appropriately fitting for the title, two in particular really hit home the idea that our future and our way forward is through new voices and new stories, mainly through new, minority filmmakers (and that much of the success of these new filmmakers is in our hands).
